Foundation

Thank you to all the families that have joined our Foundation. At this time, 20% of our class has joined. If our class has the most participation, we will have a special Science Lab experience with Mrs. Knobbe. What an awesome opportunity that would be!! We also have the chance to earn 10-15% of the money our class donates to use for classroom materials. The most exciting part is if the school reaches the goal of $25,000 then we will get a $200 grant. Please consider donating if you have not already done so. You can click on the link below.

Classroom News: August 14th

Parents,

Thank you so much for taking the time to attend Open House last night. If you have any questions about the information presented please let me know. I know it's going to be a great year!

We had a wonderful 2^nd week of school. We began reviewing the components of Daily 5, took the SLO’s math assessment, worked on expanded form and identifying the place and the value of three digit numbers, and began learning about Matter. We had our first class meeting and continued to talk about being respectful to others as well as taking pride in ourselves and being the best person we can be every day. We visited the Math Lab, Library, and our guidance counselor, Ms. Weston, visited this week. Next week, we will continue learning about matter and place value and we will visit the Science Lab. We will review more about Daily 5 and we will begin learning about pronouns.

Below are a few reminders:

·        **Homework will start on Monday. It will be due each Friday. Students will bring home a homework journal where spelling activities will be completed. Please label or number the spelling activities in the journal each week. Students will also have a reading log, fluency passage and math review sheets.

·        **Please remember to send in a healthy snack for your child. 

·        **We will go to the library on Monday. Please make sure your child brings their books back so that they are able to check out more books when we go.

Open House

Parents,
This is a reminder that tomorrow, Thursday, August 13th is Open House. We will begin at 6:30 pm with a PTA/Foundation meeting beforehand at 6:00 pm.  Open House is for PARENTS ONLY! We ask that your children do not attend. Childcare will not be provided. I am looking forward to seeing you there and sharing the wonderful plans we have for your child's second grade year.

First Day!

Wow! We had a terrific first day! We started our day off by visiting the Math Lab for the first time. We will visit here each week to work on problem solving as well as computation skills. We then organized our supplies, ate some M&M's  while completing an ice breaker activity, and listened to a story and thought about our wishes for second grade. We also talked about our class behavior plan and our leadership jobs. I was SO impressed with the students behavior and attentiveness today. They made me proud!!!

Please send all the paperwork, in the Cobb County folder, as well as the Leader in Me t-shirt money back as soon as possible! 

I am looking forward to an awesome rest of the week with your amazing kids!  

It was so nice to meet you at Meet and Greet. I am looking forward to a wonderful year in second grade with each of you! 

Here are a few reminders for the first week.

1. Please send a healthy snack each day.
2. Sign your child's agenda and send back their daily folder each day.
3. Fill out all important Cobb County Paperwork and return it as soon as possible. 
3. Your child will be bringing home a "Super Me" bag on Monday. Please have your child fill it with 3 super special things about them and return it on Friday.
